RECOMMENDATIONS FOR RESPONSIBLE USE
* Please read before using your ActiveWrapTM
HEAT USE:
Recommended Method: Remove gel pack from nylon sleeve and immerse it in a microwaveable container full of water. Heat for 1 minute until the gel pack achieves an even therapeutic temperature. Remove the gel pack from the water and place back into the nylon sleeve.Alternative Method: Remove gel pack from nylon sleeve and place on paper towel in the microwave. Set the power level on high and follow the table recommendations below, taking care not to overheat the gel pack.
1200 watt microwave oven - 10 seconds of heating time small pack - 20 seconds large pack
800 watt microwave oven - 20 seconds of heating time small pack - 30 seconds large pack
600 watt microwave oven - 30 seconds of heating time small pack - 35 seconds large pack
Since microwave ovens vary in power, less or more time may be required to obtain an even therapeutic temperature of the gel pack. Increase or decrease heating time by a maximum of 5 second intervals to reach the desired even therapeutic temperature. Test the all over temperature of the gel pack before placing it back into the nylon sleeve. Position the nylon sleeve in the ActiveWrapTM. Important note: the above instructions apply to heating a room temperature gel pack. Do not heat the gel pack from a frozen state. Use only as directed. Over heating may cause expansion of the gel pack and may diminish the lifespan of the gel pack. Hot packs can cause burns if handled improperly. After heating the gel pack insert, always check the overall temperature before applying. Never apply directly to bare skin; always use it inside the nylon pouches. If necessary use an additional layer of fabric for added protection. Take care not to wrap the ActiveWrap too tight during heat treatments.
COLD USE:
Recommended Method: Place gel pack, whilst still inside its nylon sleeve, flat in the freezer for at least 1 hour before using it. Keep the gel pack inside the nylon sleeve during treatment. This nylon sleeve will act as a barrier against direct skin contact. Apply ice therapy for a MAXIMUM of 15minutes per treatment. For sensitive skin or elderly patients please use an additional layer between the nylon sleeve and the skin for additional protection. As with many forms of cold treatment, skin irritation may occur as a result of improper use of this product. Cold therapy should not be used on individuals who are cold hypersensitive, have experienced compromised local circulation or vasopastic disease such as (but not limited to) Raynaud's. Compression should be of a therapeutic nature.
N.B. ** If abnormal pain, swelling or reactions are experienced during the use of this product, remove it from your skin and discontinue further use until further advised by a medical professional. Please refer to your Health Care Professional if you have any medically based questions.
General use information: Discard the gel pack if it starts to leak or if the gel pack starts to flatten out. This product is non-toxic. It is not intended for ingestion or experimentation. If the gel comes in contact with your skin, wash your hands with soap and water. Replace gel packs every three years for maximum effectiveness.
